The group will have exclusive use of Bordanoost, a newly renovated home on the shores of Haroldswick Bay, Unst. 

Days will be filled with workshops, private lessons, group lessons/ master classes and awesome seas and landscapes. 

The focus is on musicality and arranging.  Each day you will learn new music related to the sea and sky in addition to focusing on skills needed for you individually. 

A small retreat allows for a personalized focus that will help you leap to the next level.

* This tour is also open to non-harpists if they are a partner, family or friend of a participant harpist

Day 1 - Saturday

Arrival in Shetland by air or overnight ferry from Aberdeen. The trip to Unst from the main island will include a bus ride and two short (10-20 minutes) ferry trips to arrive at Scotland's most northern isle by late afternoon.

You'll settle in to Bordanoost and have dinner.

The February group will visit to the Norwick Up Helly Aa (Viking Fire Festival).

Day 2 - Sunday

The Shetland Branch of the Clarsach Society members will be invited to join us for the day.

Day at the harp. Workshop/ group lessons, private lessons. 

In between lessons you will have the opportunity to explore the waterfront and seek out seals, otters and exotic birds. If your are really lucky you might see an Orca whale.

Day 3 - Monday

Day at the harp. Workshop/ group lessons, private lessons. 

February group: Knitting club 7-9pm,
Unst Heritage Centre

April group: Celebrate Sunita's birthday in a session with local musicians

Day 4 - Tuesday

 

Day at the harp. Workshop/ group lessons, private lessons. meet with Angela, a local fiddler.  Take turns playing tunes together.

Evening dinner with a few locals.  Learn about Unst and the
Wild Skies of Shetland from Fabien, a meteor hunter.

Day 5 - Wednesday

Day at the harp. Workshop/ group lessons, private lessons.

There will be breaks for a walk along the nearby beach, or a visit to the nearby Boathaven (April only), a small maritime museum.

Day 6 - Thursday

Morning workshop at the harp.
Afternoon free to hike and explore the island. 

February group: Meet with and play in a session with the Unst Music and Dance Club 7-9pm

April group: Concert at the Viking Long House

Day 7 - Friday

Lerwick, Shetland

Departure by bus and local ferry to the main island.

Option (no extra charge) to have a free day and 8am departure on the following day, Saturday.
